The Spiritual Tsunami

NINE years ago today, on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, I wrote Persecution… and the Moral Tsunami. Today, during the Rosary, I sensed Our Lady once again moving me to write, but this time about the coming Spiritual Tsunami, which has been prepared by the former. I think it is no coincidence that this writing falls again on this feast… for what is coming has very much to do with the decisive battle between the Woman and the dragon.

Caution: the following contains mature themes that may not be suitable for younger readers.

THE DEBRIS

The Moral Tsunami is essentially a description of the sexual revolution that has swept through modern civilization. The three waves of contraception, cultural immorality, and pornography have virtually destroyed the moral foundations of society—particularly in the West (which has merely exported debauchery to the rest of the world.) [1]cf. Mystery Babylon and The Fall of Mystery Babylon What we are seeing today is the debris left behind these destructive waves. Everything today has been covered in the silt of impurity; the definition of marriage has been toppled; and our sexual identities, which carry a theology of the image of God, have splintered into a multitude of ambiguities. Pope Benedict’s comparison of our times to the collapse of the Roman Empire is even more relevant now than when he spoke of it at Christmas four years ago:

The disintegration of the key principles of law and of the fundamental moral attitudes underpinning them burst open the dams, which until that time, had protected peaceful coexistence among peoples. The sun was setting over an entire world… To resist this eclipse of reason and to preserve its capacity for seeing the essential, for seeing God and man, for seeing what is good and what is true, is the common interest that must unite all people of good will. The very future of the world is at stake. —POPE BENEDICT XVI, Address to the Roman Curia, December 20th, 2010

Essentially, the restrainer is being removed [2]cf. Removing the Restrainer that St. Paul spoke of, [3]cf. 2 Thess 2:3-6 whereby the dams of “key principles” and of “fundamental moral attitudes” have been broken, and lawlessness is flooding the world. I don’t know how else to describe what amounts to a near “conspiracy against purity.” Indeed, as I explained in The Fall of Mystery Babylon, the goals of Communism were precisely to infiltrate and undermine Western society, as former FBI agent, Cleon Skousen, detailed in 1958 in his book, The Naked Communist. Among their 45 goals were these three:

#25: Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

#20, 21: Infiltrate the press. Gain control of key positions in radio, tv, and motion pictures.

#26: Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”

—cf. Wikipedia; these goals were read into the Congressional Record–Appendix, pp. A34-A35, January 10, 1963

In 1958, those goals might have been considered laughable at a time when even the word “pregnant” could not be said on the I Love Lucy Show. [4]cf. disrupthenarrative.com But today, these goals have been far exceeded, as there are virtually no limits to indecency. I watched a video trailer on MTV’s website of a program for youth that runs in prime time called “1 Girl 5 Gays”. The host asked the five gay men on her panel what they preferred: oral or anal “sex” with their mouths. That this program has aired repeatedly in millions of homes now with barely a protest is a clear sign of the times.

In fact, lewd gay humor is now standard fare on nearly every sitcom and edgy talk radio show. Raunchiness on prime time television is the new “community standard.” In movies, 2014 has seen a veritable explosion of mainstream actors and actresses appearing in sexually explicit scenes. The music industry has clearly lost its soul as the Taylor Swifts, Beyoncés, and Miley Cyruses have sold their bodies to sell records; music videos today are routinely nothing short of soft porn. Books, like Fifty Shades of Grey that promote violent sex, are not only lauded, but turned into graphic films. Shopping malls and boutiques routinely display scantily clad women in huge lingerie posters. And what needs to be said about the Internet? Like a powerful destructive wave, it has pushed every imaginable (and even unimaginable) filth into the very sanctity of offices, homes, and bedrooms putting the final exclamation point on the “liberty” sought by the sexual revolution.

If you want to know what the “end times” looks like, there you have it. [5]cf. 2 Tim 3:1-4; Rom 1:24-25

Given that Mystery Babylon (plausibly America) has become one of the greatest exporters of impurity to the world, the words of Revelation bear a haunting semblance:

Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great. She has become a haunt for demons. She is a cage for every unclean spirit, a cage for every unclean bird, a cage for every unclean and disgusting beast. For all the nations have drunk the wine of her licentious passion. The kings of the earth had intercourse with her… (Rev 18:1-3)

Impurity has swept over the world so pervasively, so steadily, that even Christians today hardly react to what should be an instinctive revulsion to that which distorts the true beauty of the human body and gift that sex is. But then, when polls suggest that nearly 77 percent of Christian men admit to watching porn on a monthly basis, [6]cf. “Survey: Alarming rate of Christian men look at porn, commit adultery”, Oct. 9th, 2014; onenewsnow.com the story tells itself—perhaps the story of Revelation of the battle between the Woman, who represents Mary and the People of God, and the serpent, Satan:

The serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, to sweep her away with the flood. (Rev 12:15)

Indeed, could we not say that it is precisely a flood of impurity in the body of Christ, particularly the priesthood, that has destroyed the moral credibility of the Church, which according to Benedict, is essentially that entity which holds back lawlessness?

Abraham, the father of faith, is by his faith the rock that holds back chaos, the onrushing primordial flood of destruction, and thus sustains creation. Simon, the first to confess Jesus as the Christ… now becomes by virtue of his Abrahamic faith, which is renewed in Christ, the rock that stands against the impure tide of unbelief and its destruction of man. —POPE BENEDICT XVI (Cardinal Ratzinger), Called to Communion, Understanding the Church Today, Adrian Walker, Tr., p. 55-56

That is to say, when the moral voice of Peter, the Pope, has been so diminished by scandal within the flock, could this not already be the beginning of the removal of that restrainer?

For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. (2 Thess 2:7)

Lawlessness is what fills a moral vacuum. So these social ills are actually symptoms of a greater disease: loss of faith in God. And this is preparing the world for the next, and most dangerous wave…

THE SPIRITUAL TSUNAMI

All of the lawlessness that I’ve just described is preparation for the coming of the lawless one, who is preceded by an “apostasy”, a rebellion, a great falling away from the faith: [7]“Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of perdition.” (2 Thess 2:3)

The coming of the lawless one by the activity of Satan will be with all power and with pretended signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends upon them a strong delusion, to make them believe what is false, so that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (2 Thess 2:9-11)

While the timing of the Antichrist remains a mystery, we are beginning to see mainstream writers such as Msgr. Charles Pope echo what the Holy Pontiffs have been saying for the last century: that the times of the lawless one appear to be drawing closer:

Where are we now in an eschatological sense? It is arguable that we are in the midst of the rebellion and that in fact a strong delusion has come upon many, many people. It is this delusion and rebellion that foreshadows what will happen next: and the man of lawlessness will be revealed. —article, Msgr. Charles Pope, “Are These the Outer Bands of a Coming Judgment?”, November 11th, 2014; blog

I mean, what would Pope St. Pius X say if he were alive today after having penned the following in an encyclical in 1903?

Who can fail to see that society is at the present time, more than in any past age, suffering from a terrible and deep-rooted malady which, developing every day and eating into its inmost being, is dragging it to destruction? You understand, Venerable Brethren, what this disease is—apostasy from God… there may be already in the world the “Son of Perdition” of whom the Apostle speaks. —POPE ST. PIUS X, E Supremi, Encyclical On the Restoration of All Things in Christ, n. 3, 5; October 4th, 1903

Furthermore, we are not speaking of the end of the world, but the end of this age, according to the Early Church Fathers. They foresaw that, after the destruction of Antichrist, a seventh “day of rest” would be enjoyed by the Church before the end of the world. [8]cf. How the Era was Lost

…His Son will come and destroy the time of the lawless one and judge the godless, and change the sun and the moon and the stars—then He shall indeed rest on the seventh day… after giving rest to all things, I will make the beginning of the eighth day, that is, the beginning of another world. Letter of Barnabas (70-79 A.D.), written by a second century Apostolic Father

This is all to say that we must stay awake as signs of the approaching “Day of the Lord” become more evident. [9]cf. The Sixth Day

THE STRONG DELUSION

What is the “strong delusion” which St. Paul speaks of? It is essentially a global rejection of the truth, especially the fundamental truth that we are made to worship and love God. Thus, the “beast” to whom the dragon gives his power begins to find its incarnational form in “separation of Church and state” whereby the Church and her moral voice are relegated more and more to the private sphere.

Prohibition against worshipping God is a sign of “general apostasy.” It tries to convince Christians to take “a more reasonable and peaceful road”, by obeying “the tenets of worldly powers” who try to reduce religion to “a private matter”. —POPE FRANCIS, Homily, November 28th, 2013; vatican.va

More than that, this Beast insists on what Pope Francis calls the ‘sole thought’ [10]cf. Homily, November 18th, 2013; Zenit whereby the ‘unseen empires’ [11]cf. Speech to European Parliament and Council of Europe, Nov. 25th, 2014; cruxnow.com become the ‘Masters of Conscience’ [12]cf. Homily at Casa Santa Martha, May 2nd, 2014; Zenit.org forcing everyone into a ‘globalization of hegemonic uniformity’ [13]cf. Homily, November 18th, 2013; Zenit and ‘uniform systems of economic power.’ [14]cf. Speech to European Parliament and Council of Europe, Nov. 25th, 2014; cruxnow.com

Brothers and sisters, does this not sound like that “beast” of Revelation that rises to dominate the world, creating a False Unity?

…authority was given it over every tribe and people and tongue and nation, and all who dwell on earth will worship it… it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. (Rev 13:7, 16)

As St. John Paul II wrote, the apostasy finds…

…its external dimension, which takes concrete form as the content of culture and civilization, as a philosophical system, an ideology, a program for action and for the shaping of human behavior… [It is] dialectical and historical materialism, which is still recognized as the essential core of Marxism. —POPE JOHN PAUL II, Dominum et Vivificantem, n. 56

Communism is not dead; [15]cf. The Fall of Mystery Babylon it is merely morphing into a global entity, a “beast.” Note that the dragon and beast in Revelation have the same head:

…behold, a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems upon his heads… I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads… (Rev 12:3, 13:1)

That is to say that Satan, who is spirit, attempts to be worshipped by externalizing his sophistries into a global political system, indeed, into a person.

The majority of the Fathers see the beast as representing antichrist: St. Irenaeus, for example, writes: “The beast that rises up is the epitome of evil and falsehood, so that the full force of apostasy which it embodies can be cast into the fiery furnace.” (Against Heresies, n. 5, 29) —The Navarre Bible, “Revelation”, p. 87

It is this deceiver, whom the Catechism warns, is the ultimate deception that is coming:

Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers. The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth will unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.Catechism of the Catholic Church, n. 675

Is man not glorifying himself when he acts like a god, treating life like it is disposable, to be taken or created at whim? When he lusts after the human body, which is effectual idolatry? When he places his hopes in technology so as to “improve” or alter creation?

The darkness enshrouding God and obscuring values is the real threat to our existence and to the world in general. If God and moral values, the difference between good and evil, remain in darkness, then all other “lights” that put such incredible technical feats within our reach, are not only progress, but also dangers that put us and the world at risk. —POPE BENEDICT XVI, Easter Vigil Homily, April 7th, 2012

THE BLACK SHIP IS SAILING

A word which has come to me in prayer for several weeks now is:

The Black Ship is sailing.

What does this mean? The first thought which came to me is that the false church is beginning to materialize. For the “rock” which stands in the way of the Beast is Christianity.

Christianity has to be eliminated and give way to a global religion and a new world order. Jesus Christ, The Bearer of the Water of Life, n. 4, document on the “New Age”, Pontifical Councils for Culture and Inter-religious Dialogue

Indeed, part of the fallout of the Moral Tsunami is moral relativism, which while discarding Judeo-Christian values that Western civilization has been founded upon, becomes dogmatic itself in determining who does and doesn’t have “rights”, who is and isn’t “valuable.” [16]cf. The Progression of Man The reason I say that the Moral Tsunami has prepared for the coming spiritual one is, again, that the past 50 years have generated a Great Vacuum, which I wrote about seven years ago. [17]cf. The Great Vacuum Pope Francis pointed to this also in his recent speech to the European Parliament, underscoring Pope Benedict’s assertion that the breaking of the “dams” of a “moral consensus” is undermining “peaceful coexistence among peoples.”

…the great vacuum of ideals which we are currently witnessing in the West… “precisely [because] of man’s forgetfulness of God, and his failure to give him glory, [are giving] rise to violence. —POPE FRANCIS, speech to European Parliament, Strasbourg, France, Nov. 25th, 2014; Zenit.org

In his powerful interview with Pope Benedict XVI, Peter Seewald posed an insightful perspective to the Holy Father that invoked a prophetic answer:

P. Seewald: In a world that has become relativistic, a new paganism has gained more and more dominion over people’s thoughts and actions. It has long since become clear not only that there is a blank space, a vacuum, alongside the Church, but also that something like an anti-church has been established.

POPE BENEDICT: A new intolerance is spreading, that is quite obvious. …an blackship_Fotorabstract, negative religion is being made into a tyrannical standard that everyone must follow. That is then seemingly freedom—for the sole reason that it is liberation from the previous situation. Light of the World, A Conversation with Peter Seewald, p. 52

Indeed, not only is the voice of the Church being ignored, but actively silenced.

A purportedly favorite book of Pope Francis is Lord of the World, a novel written in 1907 about the coming of Antichrist. I believe the Holy Father is correct when he says its author, Robert Hugh Benson, wrote it ‘almost as though it were a prophecy, as though he envisioned what would happen.’ [18]cf. POPE FRANCIS, Homily, November 18th, 2013, catholicculture.org It is a chillingly prescient account of what we are watching unfold in real time before our very eyes today. Indeed, it would seem to me that this Spiritual Tsunami is beginning to reach mankind’s shores, carrying on its crest The Black Ship…

THE ARK OF REFUGE

Many do not fathom that coming times will not be navigated except by supernatural grace. I beg you to hear this warning: take the time left, which is short, to solidify your relationship with God. Or put bluntly by St’s. Paul, John, and Peter:

Become sober as you ought and stop sinning. For some have no knowledge of God; I say this to your shame… Come out of [Babylon], my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues; for her sins are heaped high as heaven… Be prudent therefore, and watch in prayers…  (1 Cor 15:34; 1 Pet 4:7; Rev 18:4-5)

Yes: pray, pray, pray. It is in prayer that you will grow close to God and learn to distinguish between the voice of the Good Shepherd and that of the wolf.

When Our Lady of Fatima said…

My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God. —revelation given to Sr. Lucia on June 13th, 1917; cf. ewtn.com

…she was not being poetic. She really will be our refuge against the “strong delusion” that is already swelling like a wave. When the flood of the dragon’s persecutions and deceptions attack the Woman of Revelation, St. John writes:

…the earth came to the help of the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the river which the dragon had poured from his mouth. (Rev 12:16)

God grants protection to the Woman and to her child, who is “taken up to heaven.” [19]cf. Rev 12:5 The invitation at Fatima is clear then: become her spiritual child so that she may protect, nourish, and form you, that is, “lead you to God.”

There are a number of ways in which we can enter the ark of the Immaculate Heart.

I. The first is to entrust yourself totally to Jesus through “consecration” to Our Lady.

Marian consecration basically means giving Mary our full permission (or as much permission as we can) to complete her motherly task in us, which is to form us into other Christs. —Fr. Michael E. Gaitley, MIC, 33 Days to Morning Glory, Intro. p. 3 (booklet form)

There is a marvelous little free book called 33 Days to Morning Glory that can walk you through these steps. It is available here.

II. Pray the Rosary, which is the “school of Mary.” [20]cf. ST. JOHN PAUL II, Rosarium Virginis Mariae, n. 1 This daily prayer is not only a beautiful means to contemplate the face of Christ on his earthly journey, but it is also a powerful spiritual weapon the “Woman” uses to “crush the head of the serpent” in our families and even nations.

One day a colleague of mine heard the devil say during an exorcism: “Every Hail Mary is like a blow on my head. If Christians knew how powerful the Rosary was, it would be my end.” —Fr. Gabriel Amorth, Chief Exorcist of Rome, Echo of Mary, Queen of Peace, March-April edition, 2003

III. Fast and pray for the Flame of Love of Our Lady’s heart to descend not only into your own heart, but over the whole world. In the ecclesiastically approved messages of the Hungarian mystic, Elizabeth Kindelmann, Our Lady said:

The Grace from the Flame of Love of My Mother’s Immaculate Heart will be to your generation what Noah’s Ark was to Noah. —from Kindelmann’s diary; cf. flameoflove.us

Again, it is going to be God’s grace alone that will preserve the faithful from the spirit of antichrist, already present in the world, and this grace will come by means of the Blessed Mother. Fasting, prayer, monthly confession, the Eucharist, and meditation on the Scriptures are all means to open wide our hearts to receive this “blessing”, [21]cf. The Convergence and the Blessing this Flame of Love, which Our Lady told Kindelmann is essentially “Jesus Christ.” That revelation ties this grace in with the “end times” (see The Rising Morning Star).

In these ways, then, God will carry us through the present Storm, beyond the lies of the dragon and clutches of the Antichrist (should he be revealed in our time), beyond the reach of the Spiritual Tsunami and The Coming Counterfeit—so long as we remain faithful. For Jesus himself promised:

Because you have kept my message of endurance, I will keep you safe in the time of trial that is going to come to the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth. (Rev 3:10)

The earth has been covered in darkness because of the lack of faith in the soul of humanity and, therefore, will experience a great jolt. Following that, people will believe. This jolt, by the power of faith, will create a new world. Through the Flame of Love of the Blessed Virgin, faith will take root in souls, and the face of the earth will be renewed, because ‘nothing like it has happened ever since the Word become Flesh.’ The Renewal of the earth, although flooded with sufferings, will come about by the power of intercession of the Blessed Virgin. —Our Lady to Elizabeth Kindelmann, The Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, The Spiritual Diary, March 27th, 1963, pg. 149; Canadian edition

THE TREE

by
Denise Mallett

Calling Denise Mallett an incredibly gifted author is an understatement! The Tree is captivating and beautifully written. I keep on asking myself, “How can somebody write something like this?” Speechless.
—Ken Yasinski, Catholic speaker, author & founder of FacetoFace Ministries

From the first word to the last I was captivated, suspended between awe and amazement. How did one so young write such intricate plot lines, such complex characters, such compelling dialogue? How had a mere teenager mastered the craft of writing, not just with proficiency, but with depth of feeling? How could she treat profound themes so deftly without the least bit of preachiness? I am still in awe. Clearly the hand of God is in this gift. Just as He has granted you every grace thus far, may He continue to lead you on the path He has chosen for you from all eternity.
