The Day is Coming

This writing first came to me on the Feast of Christ the King, November 24th, 2007. I feel the Lord urging me to repost this in preparation for my next webcast, which deals with a very difficult subject… a great shaking that is coming. Please keep your eye out for that webcast later this week. For those who have not watched the Prophecy at Rome series on EmbracingHope.tv, it is a summary of all my writings and my book, and an easy way to grasp the “big picture” according to the Early Church Fathers and our modern popes. It is also a clear word of love and warning to prepare…

 

For lo, the day is coming, blazing like an oven… (Mal 3:19)

 

A STRONG WARNING 

I do not want to punish aching mankind, but I desire to heal it, pressing it to My Merciful Heart. I use punishment when they themselves force Me to do so… (Jesus, to St. Faustina, Diary, n. 1588)

The so-called “illumination of conscience” or “warning” may be drawing near. I have long felt that it may come in the midst of a great calamity if there is not a response of contrition for the sins of this generation; if there is not an end to the horrible evil of abortion; to the experimentation with human life in our “laboratories;” to the continuing deconstruction of marriage and the family—the foundation of society.  While the Holy Father continues to encourage us with encyclicals of love and hope, we should not fall into the error of presumption that the destruction of lives is insignificant.

Measuring God

IN a recent letter exchange, an atheist said to me,

If sufficient evidence was shown to me, I would start witnessing for Jesus tomorrow. I don’t know what that evidence would be, but I’m sure an all-powerful, all-knowing deity such as Yahweh would know what it would take to get me to believe. So that means Yahweh must not want me to believe (at least at this time), otherwise Yahweh could show me the evidence.

Is it that God does not want this atheist to believe at this time, or is it that this atheist is not prepared to believe in God? That is, is he applying the principles of the “scientific method” to the Creator Himself?Continue reading →

A Painful Irony

I have spent several weeks dialoguing with an atheist. There’s perhaps no better exercise to build one’s faith. The reason being is that irrationality is a sign itself of the supernatural, for confusion and spiritual blindness are hallmarks of the prince of darkness. There are some mysteries the atheist cannot solve, questions he cannot answer, and some aspects of human life and the origins of the universe that cannot be explained by science alone. But this he will deny by either ignoring the subject, minimizing the question at hand, or ignoring scientists who refute his position and only quoting those who do. He leaves many painful ironies in the wake of his “reasoning.”

Toward Paradise — Part II

IN the Spring of 2006, I received a very strong word that is in the forefront of my thoughts these days…

With the eyes of my soul, the Lord had been giving me brief "glimpses" into the various structures of the world: economies, political powers, the food chain, the moral order, and elements within the Church. And the word was always the same:

The corruption is so deep, it must all come down.

The Lord was speaking of a Cosmic Surgery, down to the very foundations of civilization. It seems to me that while we can and must pray for souls, the Surgery itself is now irreversible:

When foundations are being destroyed, what can the upright do? (Psalm 11:3)

Even now the ax lies at the root of the trees. Therefore every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. (Luke 3:9)

Why Are You Surprised?

FROM a reader:

Why are the parish priests so silent about these times? It seems to me that ours priests should be leading us… but 99% are silent… why are they silent…??? Why are so many, many people asleep? Why don’t they wake up? I can see what’s happening and I am not special… why can’t others? It’s like a mandate from Heaven has been sent out to wake up and see what time it is… but only a few are awake and even fewer are responding.

My answer is why are you surprised? If we are possibly living in the “end times” (not the end of the world, but an end “period”) as many of the popes seemed to think such as Pius X, Paul V, and John Paul II, if not our present Holy Father, then these days will be exactly as Scripture said they would be.

The Good Atheist

I AWOKE at 5:30 this morning, the wind howling, snow blowing. A lovely spring storm. So I threw on a coat and a hat, and headed out into the blistering winds to save Nessa, our milk cow. With her safely in the barn, and my senses rather rudely awakened, I wandered into the house to find an interesting article by an atheist, Philip Pullman.

With the swagger of one who hands in an exam early while fellow students remain to sweat over their answers, Mr. Pullman briefly explains how he abandoned the myth of Christianity for the reasonableness of atheism. What caught my attention most, though, was his answer to how many will argue that Christ’s existence is evident, in part, through the good His Church has done:

However, the people who use that argument seem to imply that until the church existed no one ever knew how to be good, and no one could do good now unless they did it for reasons of faith. But the essence of this statement is puzzling, and in fact, presents a serious question: can there be a ‘good’ atheist?

The Seven Year Trial – Epilogue

I will choose the time; I will judge fairly. The earth and all its inhabitants will quake, but I have firmly set its pillars. (Psalm 75:3-4)


WE have followed the Passion of the Church, walking in the footsteps of our Lord from His triumphal entry into Jerusalem to His crucifixion, death, and Resurrection. It is seven days from Passion Sunday to Easter Sunday. So too, the Church will experience Daniel’s “week,” a seven year confrontation with the powers of darkness, and ultimately, a great triumph.

Whatever has been prophesied in Scripture is coming to pass, and as the end of the world approaches, it tests both men and the times. —St. Cyprian of Carthage

The Seven Year Trial – Part IX

The Church will enter the glory of the kingdom only through this final Passover, when she will follow her Lord in his death and Resurrection. —Catechism of the Catholic Church, 677

 

AS we continue to follow the Passion of the Body in relation to the Book of Revelation, it is good to recall the words we read at that book’s beginning:

Blessed is the one who reads aloud and blessed are those who listen to this prophetic message and heed what is written in it, for the appointed time is near. (Rev 1:3)

We read, then, not in a spirit of fear or terror, but in a spirit of hope and anticipation of the blessing which comes to those who “heed” Revelation’s central message: faith in Jesus Christ saves us from everlasting death and grants us a share in the inheritance of the Kingdom of Heaven.Continue reading →

Blow the trumpet in Zion, sound the alarm on my holy mountain! Let all who dwell in the land tremble, for the day of the LORD is coming. (Joel 2:1)

 

THE Illumination will usher in a period of evangelization that will come like a flood, a Great Flood of Mercy. Yes, Jesus, come! Come in power, light, love, and mercy! 

But lest we forget, the Illumination is also a warning that the path the world and many in the Church itself have chosen will bring terrible and painful consequences upon the earth. The Illumination will be followed by further merciful warnings that begin to unfold in the cosmos itself…

The Seven Year Trial – Part V

The Israelites did what displeases the Lord; the Lord gave them over for seven years into the hands of Midian. (Judges 6:1)

 

THIS writing examines the transition between the first and second half of the Seven Year Trial.

We have been following Jesus along His Passion, which is a pattern for the Church’s present and coming Great Trial. Furthermore, this series aligns His Passion to the Book of Revelation which is, on one of its many levels of symbolism, a High Mass being offered in Heaven: the representation of Christ’s Passion as both sacrifice and victory.

The Seven Year Trial – Part IV

Seven years shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules over the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will. (Dan 4:22)

 

 

 

During Mass this past Passion Sunday, I sensed the Lord urging me to repost a portion of the Seven Year Trial where it essentially begins with the Passion of the Church. Once again, these meditations are the fruit of prayer in my own attempt to better understand the Church’s teaching that the Body of Christ will follow its Head through its own passion or “final trial,” as the Catechism puts it (CCC, 677). Since the book of Revelation deals in part with this final trial, I have explored here a possible interpretation of St. John’s Apocalypse along the pattern of Christ’s Passion. The reader should keep in mind that these are my own personal reflections and not a definitive interpretation of Revelation, which is a book with several meanings and dimensions, not the least, an eschatological one. Many a good soul has fallen on the sharp cliffs of the Apocalypse. Nonetheless, I have felt the Lord compelling me to walk them in faith through this series, drawing together the Church’s teaching with mystical revelation and the authoritative voice of the Holy Fathers. WHY A WEBCAST? BECAUSE IT’S IMPORTANT…

Many of you have been introduced to my ministry through my writings, where evidently, several of you have found "spiritual food" and many other graces. For this, I thank God continually that He has used these writings in spite of the writing instrument.

The same Lord who has inspired these writings also placed it on my heart to begin a webcast. It’s taken me a year to find my feet again in television, and now I see what the Lord is doing. There is a kind of "dance" beginning to occur now between my writings and the webcasts. Where as before I would say "If you miss the webcasts, don’t worry, I’ll write about it…", that’s no longer true. The webcast and writings are like the left and right hands of a body. You can get by with one or the other, but there’s so much more you can do with two. That’s one of the major reasons why I felt it absolutely necessary to make the webcasts freely available to the public.

The Prophecy at Rome – Part V

EVENTS in the world are unfolding before our eyes that appear to be a fulfillment of many prophecies—including the prophecy given in 1975 before Pope Paul VI.

Romans I

IT is only in hindsight now that perhaps Romans Chapter 1 has become one of the most prophetic passages in the New Testament. St. Paul lays out an intriguing progression: denial of God as Lord of Creation leads to vain reasoning; vain reasoning leads to a worship of the creature; and worship of the creature leads to an inversion of human **ity, and the explosion of evil.

Dynasty, Not Democracy – Part I

THERE is confusion, even among Catholics, as to the nature of the Church Christ established. Some feel the Church needs to be reformed, to allow a more democratic approach to her doctrines and to deciding how to deal with present day moral issues.

However, they fail to see that Jesus did not establish a democracy, but a dynasty.

Hope is Dawning

First published January 23rd, 2008.  This word brings into focus once again what all our waiting, watching, fasting, praying, and suffering is all about at this time in history. It reminds us that darkness will not triumph. Moreover, it reminds us that we are not defeated souls, but sons and daughters of God called into a mission, sealed with the power of the Holy Spirit, and inscribed with the name and authority of Jesus. Do not be afraid! Nor think that because you are insignificant in the eyes of the world, hidden from the masses, that God does not have a significant plan for you. Renew your commitment to Jesus today, trusting in His love and mercy. Begin again. Gird your loins. Tighten the ropes upon your sandals. Lift high the shield of faith, and grasp the hand of your Mother in the holy Rosary.

This is not the time for comfort, but the time for miracles! For Hope is dawning…

THE Prophecy at Rome, given in the presence of Pope Paul VI in 1973, goes on to say…

Days of darkness are coming on the world, days of tribulation…

O Canada… Where Are You?

First published March 4th, 2008. This writing has been updated with more recent events. It forms part of the underlying context for Part III of the Prophecy at Rome, coming to Embracing Hope TV later this week. 

 

DURING the past 17 years, my ministry has brought me from coast to coast in Canada. I have been everywhere from big city parishes to little country churches standing at the edge of wheat fields. I have met many souls who have a deep love for God and great desire for others to know Him too. I have encountered many priests who are faithful to the Church and doing whatever they can to serve their flocks. And there are those little pockets here and there of youth who are on fire for the Kingdom of God and working hard to bring conversion to even just a handful of their peers in this great counter-cultural battle between the Gospel and the anti-Gospel. 

God has granted me the privilege to minister to tens of thousands of my fellow countrymen. I have been granted a bird’s eye view of the Canadian Catholic Church that perhaps few even among the clergy have experienced.  

Which is why tonight, my soul is aching…

Of Despair and a Dairy Cow

THERE is much happening in the world that, frankly, seems depressing. Or at least, it can be without viewing it through the lens of Divine Providence. The season of autumn can be bleak to some as the leaves fade, fall to the ground, and decay. But to the one with foresight, this fallen foliage is the fertilizer which will produce a glorious springtime of color and life.

This week, I intended to speak in Part III of the Prophecy at Rome about "the fall" which we are living in. However, aside from the usual spiritual warfare, there was another distraction: a new member of the family arrived.

Silence

When we allow our flesh to become “noisy,” giving in to all its demands, we lose that “peace which surpasses all understanding.” But silence of the tongue, silence of the appetites, and silence of the eyes is like a chisel, carving away the passions of the flesh, until the soul is open and empty like a bowl. But empty, only so as to be filled with God.

OH my Jesus.

I should come to you today with many gifts, like the magi. Instead, my hands are empty. I wish I could offer you the gold of good works, but I bear only the sorrow of sin. I try to burn the frankincense of prayer, but I have only distraction. I want to show you the myrrh of virtue, but I am clothed by vice.
