IT seemed like a benign philosophy—deism. That the world was indeed created by God… but then left for man to sort it out himself and determine his own destiny. It was a little lie, born in the 16th century, that was a catalyst in part for the “Enlightenment” period, which gave birth to atheistic materialism, which was embodied by Communism, which has prepared the soil for where we are today: on the threshold of a Global Revolution.
The Global Revolution taking place today is unlike anything seen before. It certainly has political-economic dimensions like past revolutions. In fact, the very conditions that led to the French Revolution (and its violent persecution of the Church) are among us today in several parts of the world: high unemployment, food shortages, and anger fomenting against the authority of both Church and State. In fact, the conditions today are ripe for upheaval (read The Seven Seals of Revolution).
In fact, many nations, including Japan, the United States, and several European countries have been printing money to stave off economic collapse. Furthermore, people no longer know how to provide for themselves and care internally for their communities. Our food comes from a handful of multi-national corporations. Were supply lines to be choked by a fuel shortage, a pandemic, an act of terrorism, or some other factor, store shelves would be emptied within 4-5 days. Many people depend upon the “grid” for their water, heat, and power. Again, the delivery of these resources is actually fragile as they too are interdependent upon each other’s availability. This is all to say that should such chaos come, it would have the effect of destabilizing entire regions, displacing governments, and re-ordering entire societies. In a word, it would create a revolution (read The Great Deception – Part II). But then, that is the intention so that a New World Order could be formed out of the chaos. [1]cf. Mystery Babylon, Global Revolution!, and Quest for Freedom
However, what is most disturbing is that, already, it is clear that peoples of democratic nations are willing to relinquish their rights for the somewhat superficial security of the State, whether it’s the open embrace of Socialism in several countries, or the intrusion of government on personal freedoms in the name of “homeland security.” If the world were to be thrown into global chaos, then the world will look for a leader to deliver it from its mess. [2]cf. The Great Deception – Part II
I am reminded again, but in a different context, of the prescient words of Blessed Cardinal Newman:
When we have cast ourselves upon the world and depend for protection upon it, and have given up our independence and our strength, then he [Antichrist] will burst upon us in fury as far as God allows him. Then suddenly the Roman Empire may break up, and Antichrist appear as a persecutor, and the barbarous nations around break in. —Venerable John Henry Newman, Sermon IV: The Persecution of Antichrist
Yet, there is something different at the very heart of this New Revolution: it is also anthropological in nature. It is a transformation of who we see ourselves as man and woman and our relation to one another. The categories of “man” and “woman”are disappearing with incalculable consequences…
THE ANTHROPOLOGICAL REVOLUTION
The past four hundred years has slowly whittled away our belief in God, and therefore, our understanding that we are made in His image. Thus, the foundations of human society that God instituted, namely marriage and the family, have disintegrated such that it can be rightly said that the very “future of the world is a stake.” [3]cf. On the Eve Speaking of the family, Pope Benedict stated:
This is not a simple social convention, but rather the fundamental cell of every society. Consequently, policies which undermine the family threaten human dignity and the future of humanity itself. —POPE BENEDICT XVI, Address to the Diplomatic Corps, January 19th, 2012; Reuters
He added this past Christmas (2013)…
In the fight for the family, the very notion of being – of what being human really means – is being called into question… The question of the family … is the question of what it means to be a man, and what it is necessary to do to be true men… The profound falsehood of this theory [that sex is no longer an element of nature but a social role people choose for themselves] and of the anthropological revolution contained within it is obvious… —POPE BENEDICT XVI, December 21st, 2012
The loss of our identity as “man” and “woman” is quickly spiraling out of control. In the United Kingdom, the terms “husband” and “wife” or “Bride” and “Bridegroom” are being omitted from marriage documents. [4]cf. http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/ In Australia, the Human Rights Commission is moving to defend some twenty-three “gender” definitions—and counting.
In the beginning there was male and female. Soon there was homosexuality. Later there were lesbians, and much later gays, bisexuals, transgenders and queers… To date (by the time you read this, the… family of sexualities may have increased and multiplied) these are: transgender, trans, transsexual, intersex, androgynous, agender, cross dresser, drag king, drag queen, genderfluid, genderqueer, intergender, neutrois, pansexual, pan-gendered, third gender, third sex, sistergirl and brotherboy… —from “Pope Benedict XVI Exposes the Profound Falsehood of the Philosophy of the Gender Identity Movement”, December 29th, 2012, http://www.catholiconline.com/
Thus, the defence of the family and authentic marriage is about more than preserving the building block of cultures. It…
…is about man himself. And it becomes clear that when God is denied, human dignity also disappears. —POPE BENEDICT XVI, December 21st, 2012
When human dignity disappears, man begins to disappear. If we universally accept that there are no longer moral absolutes—that who we are as a species, as individuals, as persons—are arbitrarily defined, then we can be certain that a godless State will arbitrarily define them for us. This is the lesson of history, the repeated pathway beaten down by the iron feet of tyrants, dictators, and madmen. The true delusion of our times is that we believe we are too intelligent to let it happen again.
But it’s happening all around us. We are already arbitrarily determining when someone becomes a person.
• Abortion is debated precisely on this point. In Canada recently, the medical community randomly decided that personhood does not begin until the body of an unborn baby has fully emerged from the birth canal. [5]cf. Cowards The implications of this are clear: a baby can be killed so long as it still has a foot in the womb. Even when clear cases of murder have occurred, the right to “abortion” is still cited. [6]cf. www.cbcnews.ca
• In the United States, so called “death panels” are being formed to determine who can and cannot receive health care: who is valuable enough to keep healthy, and who is not.
• Embryonic research on human fetuses routinely destroys life for the “greater good” of finding cures for diseases—or better ingredients for makeup and more favorable food. [7]cf. www.LifeSiteNews.com
• Torture is condoned by “civilized” countries as a “weapon” against terrorism. [8]“Torture which uses physical or moral violence to extract confessions, punish the guilty, frighten opponents, or satisfy hatred is contrary to respect for the person and for human dignity.” —Catechism of the Catholic Church, n. 2297
• In several nations in the West, the right to kill oneself is being vigorously sought while the right to euthanize is gaining momentum.
• Science and technology today are moving at a rapid pace to literally reinvent the human being by either altering our genes or interfacing our bodies with computer chips.
If technical progress is not matched by corresponding progress in man’s ethical formation, in man’s inner growth (cf. Eph 3:16; 2 Cor 4:16), then it is not progress at all, but a threat for man and for the world... Science can contribute greatly to making the world and mankind more human. Yet it can also destroy mankind and the world unless it is steered by forces that lie outside it.—POPE BENEDICT XVI, Encyclical Letter, Spe Salvi, n. 22, 25
• On a massive scale, population reduction is well underway. Many foreign nations cannot receive foreign aid unless they agree to implement programs of “reproductive health”, in other words, ready availability to birth control, abortion, and forced sterilization. Economies in the West are shrinking for the simple reason that they have contracepted and aborted generations of consumers and taxpayers.
• Profit, not people, is now the central goal of corporations, markets, and economies. These fiscal aims are widening the gap between the rich and poor and effectively destabilizing nations.
…the tyranny of mammon […] perverts mankind. No pleasure is ever enough, and the excess of deceiving intoxication becomes a violence that tears whole regions apart – and all this in the name of a fatal misunderstanding of freedom which actually undermines man’s freedom and ultimately destroys it. —POPE BENEDICT XVI, Address to the Roman Curia, December 20th, 2010
• Governments are now routinely invading other countries with “pre-emptive” attacks, authorizing illegal missile strikes, and ousting leaders at the cost at times of hundreds of thousands of innocent lives chalked up merely as “collateral damage.” [9]It’s estimated that the war on Iraq to oust Saddam Hussein and his “weapons of mass destruction”, which were never found, has killed close to a million Iraqis. cf. www.globalresearch.ca
I could go on with the reckless poisoning that is taking place in the human food supply, agriculture, and our atmosphere. The point is this: when we no longer see the value of the human person, of the dignity of a soul, then people themselves become a means to an end; they become a commodity on the market, a stepping stone, a mere evolutionary byproduct subject to the survival of the fittest (ie. the wealthiest). In a word, they become dispensable. [10]cf. The Great Culling
The Lord’s question: “What have you done?”, which Cain cannot escape, is addressed also to the people of today, to make them realize the extent and gravity of the attacks against life which continue to mark human history… Whoever attacks human life, in some way attacks God himself. —POPE JOHN PAUL II, Evangelium Vitae; n. 10
Whoever wants to eliminate love is preparing to eliminate man as such. —POPE BENEDICT XVI, Encyclical Letter, Deus Caritas Est (God is Love), n. 28b
We have embraced a “culture of death” and have thus arrived at the threshold of “the final confrontation” between the “woman clothed with the sun” and the gaping jaws of the “dragon.” [11]cf. Rev 12-13; also The Great Culling and Understanding The Final Confrontation And this is just the beginning of the reaping.
This [culture of death] is actively fostered by powerful cultural, economic and political currents which encourage an idea of society excessively concerned with efficiency. Looking at the situation from this point of view, it is possible to speak in a certain sense of a war of the powerful against the weak: a life which would require greater acceptance, love and care is considered useless, or held to be an intolerable burden, and is therefore rejected in one way or another. A person who, because of illness, handicap or, more simply, just by existing, compromises the well-being or life-style of those who are more favoured, tends to be looked upon as an enemy to be resisted or eliminated. In this way a kind of “conspiracy against life” is unleashed. This conspiracy involves not only individuals in their personal, family or group relationships, but goes far beyond, to the point of damaging and distorting, at the international level, relations
between peoples and States. —POPE JOHN PAUL II, Evangelium Vitae, “The Gospel of Life”, n. 12
THE NEW TOWER OF BABEL
It is precisely this “distortion” John Paul II spoke of that is generating the conditions for a Global Revolution, one that ultimately seeks to remake man in his own image. And so, we have come in our times to a remarkable turning point: the belief that our biological sex, genetic makeup, and moral fabric can be completely re-ordered, re-engineered, and re-placed. We have placed our hope almost solely in science and technology to deliver us into a new epoch of human enlightenment and freedom. The New Tower of Babel we are constructing makes the Babylonian tower of the Old Testament look like a hut.
But what is Babel? It is the description of a kingdom in which people have concentrated so much power they think they no longer need depend on a God who is far away. They believe they are so powerful they can build their own way to heaven in order to open the gates and put themselves in God’s place. But it’s precisely at this moment that something strange and unusual happens. While they are working to build the tower, they suddenly realise they are working against one another. While trying to be like God, they run the risk of not even being human – because they’ve lost an essential element of being human: the ability to agree, to understand one another and to work together… Progress and science have given us the power to dominate the forces of nature, to manipulate the elements, to reproduce living things, almost to the point of manufacturing humans themselves. In this situation, praying to God appears outmoded, pointless, because we can build and create whatever we want. We don’t realise we are reliving the same experience as Babel. —POPE BENEDICT XVI, Pentecost Homily, May 27th, 2102
It is the Great Deception of not only our times, but perhaps the greatest since the Garden of Eden. [12]cf. The Great Deception — Part III and Back to Eden? It is only possible on a global scale if global crises succeed in seducing mankind into believing that the only solution to our problems is in fact to finally become the gods that Adam and Eve tried, but failed to be—could not be.
In this scenario, Christianity has to be eliminated and give way to a global religion and a new world order. —‚Jesus Christ, The Bearer of the Water of Life, n. 4, Pontifical Councils for Culture and Inter-religious Dialogue
It is almost unbelievable that mankind could let itself be so duped, except that Scripture itself, through both new and old Testament prophets, foretell this very thing. The crises, it would seem, are The Seven Seals of Revolution seen in a vision by St. John—crises that culminate in a godless savior who promises to deliver a New Utopia…
After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth… I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things. (Dan 7:7-8)
Fascinated, the whole world followed after the beast. (Rev 13:3)
Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers. The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth will unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh. The Antichrist’s deception already begins to take shape in the world every time the claim is made to realize within history that messianic hope which can only be realized beyond history through the eschatological judgment. —Catechism of the Catholic Church, n. 675-676
