This writing from nine years ago came to mind a couple of days ago. I wasn’t going to republish it until I received a wild confirmation this morning (read to the end!) The following was first published on January 11th, 2011 at 13:33…
FOR some time now, I have spoken with the occasional reader who is befuddled as to why they are suddenly seeing the number 11:11 or 1:11, or 3:33, 4:44, etc. Whether glancing at a clock, a cellphone, television, page number, etc. they are suddenly seeing this number “everywhere.” For instance, they won’t look at the clock all day, but suddenly feel the urge to look up, and there it is again.
Is it just coincidence? Is there a “sign” involved? Or is this, as I felt, just a coincidence if not an overreaction—like those who look for Jesus’ or Mary’s image in every piece of toast or cloud. Indeed, there is a even a danger to attempt to read something into numbers (ie. numerology). But then… I started to see this everywhere myself, sometimes 3-4 times a day. And so, I asked the Lord if this has any meaning. Immediately, the “scales of justice” popped into my mind’s eye with an understanding that 11:11 shows a balance, so to speak, of mercy vs. justice (and 1:11 perhaps shows a “tipping” of the scale, as does any triple number such as 3:33).
Tipping in what direction…?
TIPPING THE SCALES
The sense I had with this image is that humanity as a whole is tipping the scales of justice through abortion, the promotion of alternative lifestyles to children, pornography, the abuse of creation, the misuse of “just war”, the continued neglect of the poor in third world countries, sexual abuse and apostasy in the Church, etc. God, in His infinite mercy, has given humanity the better part of a century to change course—such was the warning at Fatima. But there is little evidence that the world is heeding the warnings of Heaven as nations continue to open the door to abortion, condone “gay marriage”, transgenderism and even reject any mention of God in the public square.
What I am saying is nothing new. The Lord already gave the forecast for our times in the 1930’s in His revelations to St. Faustina:
Speak to the world about My mercy; let all mankind recognize My unfathomable mercy. It is a sign for the end times; after it will come the day of justice. —Jesus to St. Faustina, Divine Mercy in My Soul, n. 635
I gave the Savior to the world; as for you, you have to speak to the world about His great mercy and prepare the world for the Second Coming of Him who will come, not as a merciful Savior, but as a just Judge. Oh, how terrible is that day! Determined is the day of justice, the day of divine wrath. The angels tremble before it. Speak to souls about this great mercy while it is still the time for [granting] mercy… Fear nothing. Be faithful to the end. —Mary to St. Faustina, Divine Mercy in My Soul, n. 848
Though I can’t confirm it at this time, one reader said that Pope Francis opened the Holy Doors of Rome to begin the Jubilee Year of Mercy at exactly 11:11am. In fact, the day before opening the doors, a non-Catholic had a vision of two “ancient doors” being opened with the number “11” on each door. She then goes on to speak of a coming “storm” followed by “restoration” and “resurrection.” You can hear her testimony here (I do not know this woman or endorse her ministry, which I am unfamiliar with, though what she says in that video is consistent with Catholic mystics).
Are these little “signs” in the clock a “word” that time is running out, at least in terms of the beginning of this period of justice?[1]see Two More Days While preparing this meditation, someone sent me a news article of an interview with Fr. Thomas Euteneuer, [former] president of Human Life International, an organization on the forefront of fighting against the holocaust of abortion. Fr. Thomas points out that previous civilizations collapsed once moral degradation infected their core.
[Note: In a sad twist of irony, and another “sign” in itself, Fr. Thomas fell into unchastity and a month later had to resign and issue a public apology. Cf. When the Stars Fall.]A moral degradation precedes social and political degradation… The social crisis happens when we elect people to rule over us who are immoral. That is not an isolated incident anymore. We have immoral activists at every branch of government and everywhere we turn around the pagans are in charge of our institutions… We’ve got a serious crisis on the horizon. I’m not a prophet of doom but I don’t see this going any other way but a serious political crisis that’s going to affect the globe. —Fr. Thomas Euteneurer, Interview in Rome, January 6th, 2010, LifeSiteNews.com
Just how long this crisis takes to unfold is uncertain, though Pope Benedict notes in his latest encyclical how rapidly changes are taking place on a global scale, in the present…
…cultural and moral crisis of man, the symptoms of which have been evident for some time all over the world… The principal new feature has been the explosion of worldwide interdependence, commonly known as globalization. Paul VI had partially foreseen it, but the ferocious pace at which it has evolved could not have been anticipated. —POPE BENEDICT XVI, Caritas in Veritate, n. 32-33
The crisis is not that a new world order is forming, but that it is forming without a moral compass. Indeed, some biblical commentaries suggest that:
The number eleven is important in that it can symbolize disorder, chaos and judgment… Coming after 10 (which represents law and responsibility), the number eleven (11) represents the opposite, which is the irresponsibility of breaking the law, which brings disorder and judgment. —biblestudy.com
In other words, 11:11 may also represent that we are entering The Hour of Lawlessness. As such, there is a growing sense in the Body of Christ that, at some point, God’s merciful justice will intervene in a dramatic way.
[Fr. Thomas’s words are true, and perhaps his own fall led him to realize more pungently the gravity of moral decline, especially in the Church.]I just have this intuition that the way things are going, they’re getting worse, they’re declining, they’re dismantling, and that can only mean some form of major destruction down the road. The ones who are now presently on the side of the angels are the ones who are going to get through that. And to bring others along with them back to God. —Fr. Thomas Euteneurer, Interview in Rome, January 6th, 2010,LifeSiteNews.com
In that light, another simple interpretation is a dividing line between people—that we must now “choose sides” (see Luke 12:53).
PREPARING
Part of the purpose of these writings is to prepare the reader for these future crises, which are already unfolding. The purpose of our preparation is not a matter of producing a survivalist mentality but a preparation to “bring others along with [us] back to God.” For that very reason, God’s angels will indeed protect and guide many of us through these dramatic times.
But then there will be others who, while receiving God’s spiritual protection, may not always be given physical protection. We know this already as daily you and I face the mystery of suffering and death, especially the death of loved ones who, despite their commitment to God, were called home according to God’s Divine Will. We need to be ready to meet Our Lord at any time, of course. But even more so as the world seems to be plunging more certainly toward ‘serious crisis’. I want to point out this gentle exhortation and warning given from a messenger many of you are familiar with, and who has the approval and support of her bishop (I have underlined the pertinent words):
Abandon yourself to My providence completely… Avoid being trapped by the past and avoid being drawn into a future on earth which may not include you. You do not know when I will come for you. But I am with you now, as you read these words, and I have work for you today. Look, together with Me, at what I am asking of you and together we will be a successful force for love. I crave love from you. When you trust Me and reject fear, I am delighted. Calm, steady service is what I require from My beloved apostles who seek to serve Me. Be at peace. I am with you. —Anne the Lay Apostle, January 1, 2010, directionforourtimes.com
Jesus warns in Mark 13:33, “Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come,” and again in Matthew 24:42, “Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.” When the world sows in over 50 million abortions each year, that is, over 100 thousand per day —and shows no signs of repentance— it is hard to say just how we will reap the blood that has been shed.
The nations have fallen into the pit that they made… (Psalm 9:16)
We need to always be ready to meet our Lord. So, preparing for tomorrow is prudent but worrying about it is futile. The Scriptures continually call us to be pilgrims, our eyes fixed upon the homeland of Heaven. As Jesus said to Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta:
The end of man is Heaven… —April 4th, 1931
This is the source of our hope and joy, and the grace and strength we need to face the uncertain world before us. God, who is constant love and hope, has, I believe, many surprises to come—especially the revelation of His vast and infinite mercy when our world least deserves it. This, we should definitely prepare for, so that when the time comes we are in fact apostles of Divine Mercy.
…before I come as the just Judge, I am coming first as the King of Mercy. Before the day of justice arrives, there will be given to people a sign in the heavens of this sort: All light in the heavens will be extinguished, and there will be great darkness over the whole earth. Then the sign of the cross will be seen in the sky, and from the openings where the hands and the feet of the Savior were nailed will come forth great lights which will light up the earth for a period of time. This will take place shortly before the last day. —Jesus to St. Faustina, Divine Mercy in My Soul, n. 83
There is a multitude of interpretations as to what 11:11 or these other numbers mean, among them: it is eleven minutes past eleven (insert smiley). One thing it seems for certain is that the scales of justice are tipping (see It Rapidly Comes Now), and so, we should remain calm and at peace, but always as our Lord commands, awake.

Addendum (Feb 27, 2020): This past couple of weeks, I have been seeing the number 11:11 everywhere. A few days ago, it appeared on my altimeter. Normally, we are at 1191 meters above sea level, give or take. But that day, the altitude reading dropped to 1111 meters (likely due to a change in barometric pressure). Then today, February 27th, 2020, a woman sent me the following image of a torn Bible page that was just lying there on the ground as she entered a hospital lobby. It is Chapter 24 of Matthew with verses 28, 39-40, 44 highlighted:
Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together… For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they did not know until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of man… Therefore you also must be ready; for the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect. (Matt 28, 39-40, 44)
Dr. Scott Hahn notes a connection to persecution in the first verse:
In the Old Testament, the eagle (also translated “vulture”) symbolized pagan nations, who brought suffering upon Israel. —Ignatius Catholic Study Bible, footnote on v. 28, p. 51
And The Navarre Bible commentary notes how verse 28 “looks like a proverb based on the speed with which birds of prey swoop down on their quarry.” In other words, Our Lord is warning that the Day of the Lord will come “like a thief in the night.” A brief glance at the headlines today reveals clearly how what is unraveling is taking the world by surprise. But you, dear reader, have an advantage. The words above speak about knowing these things yet remaining in a place of calm because you are “on the side of the angels” (if you are indeed in a state of grace.) You are part of Our Lady’s Little Rabble. You are one of her foot soldiers, being prepared to help, comfort and evangelize others, especially when the Eye of the Storm lands upon the entire world.
What time is it? The beginning of justice? For certain, it is the the time to “watch and pray.” And guess what page number that torn Bible excerpt is from?
1111.
For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord
will come like a thief in the night.
When people say, “There is peace and security,”
then sudden destruction will come upon them
as travail comes upon a woman with child,
and there will be no escape.
But you are not in darkness, brethren,
for that day to surprise you like a thief.
For you are all sons of light and sons of the day;
we are not of the night or of darkness.
(1 Thess 5:2-8)
