IT was a quiet word, more like an impression this morning: There is coming a moment when clergy will enforce “climate change” dogma.
So it was strange to accidentally stumble upon an article later on, one written eight years ago, with the subtitle: “Global Warming to Replace Gospel at Church.” I actually mentioned in my last webcast how there is a “false gospel” emerging that has placed “saving the planet” ahead of saving souls…
The War Has Come Home
This is hitting home, especially for my family as climate change is no longer a mere ideological danger. An industrial wind farm, proposed to go up behind our small farm, has brought this pseudo-scientific war to our doorstep. I have been forced to lead my community against the environmental destruction this would leave in its wake.[1]cf. windconcerns.com In my research, not only has this underscored the fraudulent claims of global warming fearmongers but also the utterly insane environmental policies being forced on the populace.
Start with the goal to completely eliminate fossil fuels by 2050, or sooner. Energy grids across the world are already straining as countries eliminate coal or nuclear power plants. Imagine what would happen if everyone started driving electric vehicles that need daily recharging, and heating their homes with electricity alone. Power grids would utterly collapse resulting in catastrophic consequences. And yet, new vehicles requiring fossil fuels will start being banned in Canada in 2026,[2]cf. surex.com and gas stoves and furnaces have been banned in new construction in New York state.[3]cf. cnn.com
Then there is the question of how to bring cost-effective energy to poor countries when solar and wind cost a fortune to manufacture, utilize increasingly rare minerals, and have short life spans. Fossil fuels, and ever-newer technology to burn them cleanly, remain a cheap source of energy. But just like the COVID-19 narrative, which was also built on faulty computer models, fraudulent claims, and backward science,[4]cf. Following the Science? fear-mongering is literally driving the world headlong into an existential man-made crisis.[5]cf. Hot Air Behind the Wind Energy prices across the globe are already soaring,[6]eg. Britain, Germany, Alberta especially where “green” energy is replacing traditional sources. As the Premier of Alberta, Canada said recently.
This is what happens when ideology runs the power grid. —cf. Premier Danielle Smith, What Happens When Ideology Runs Runs the Power Grid
The co-founder of Greenpeace, who left the organization after it became radicalized, warned:
The alarmism is driving us through scare tactics to adopt energy policies that are going to create a huge amount of energy poverty among the poor people. It’s not good for people and it’s not good for the environment… In a warmer world we can produce more food.—Dr. Patrick Moore, Ph.D., Fox Business News with Stewart Varney, January 2011; Forbes.com
Communism — with a Green Hat
So it’s deeply troubling to hear the head of the Roman Catholic Church become one of the leading voices in the world for an increasingly destructive agenda. As I warned eight years ago in Climate Change and the Great Delusion, the founding fathers of present-day “global warming” were no less than former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and Canadian environmentalist Maurice Strong (photo below), both open and vocal communists who have since passed away. Gorbachev predicted:
The threat of environmental crisis will be the international disaster key to unlock the New World Order. — from ‘A Special Report: The Wildlands Project Unleashes Its War On Mankind’, by Marilyn Brannan, Associate Editor, Monetary & Economic Review, 1996, p.5
Strong pushed for radical tenets insinuated in the fine details of Agenda 21, which was signed on to by 178 member nations. The agenda promoted the abolition of “national sovereignty” and the dissolution of property rights.
Agenda 21: “Land… cannot be treated as an ordinary asset, controlled by individuals and subject to the pressures and inefficiencies of the market. Private land ownership is also a principal instrument of accumulation and concentration of wealth and therefore contributes to social injustice; if unchecked, it may become a major obstacle in the planning and implementation of development schemes.” — “Alabama Bans U.N. Agenda 21 Sovereignty Surrender”, June 7th, 2012; investors.com
And if you’ve been following the propaganda of the World Economic Forum and its “Great Reset”, you’ll recognize Strong’s influence from his beliefs that “current lifestyles and consumption patterns of the affluent middle-class… involving high meat intake, consumption of large amounts of frozen and ‘convenience’ foods, ownership of motor vehicles, numerous electrical appliances, home and workplace air-conditioning… expensive suburban housing… are not sustainable.”[7]green-agenda.com/agenda21 ; cf. newamerican.com
This is communism with a green hat. So it’s no surprise that a member of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change stated that global warming isn’t about saving the planet but a programme of dismantling the capitalist system:
…one must say clearly that we redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy. Obviously, the owners of coal and oil will not be enthusiastic about this. One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore… —Ottmar Edenhofer, IPCC, dailysignal.com, November 19th, 2011
At least he’s honest, as was Canada’s former Minister of the Environment:
No matter if the science of global warming is all phony… climate change [provides] the greatest opportunity to bring about justice and equality in the world. — Former Canadian Minister of the Environment, Christine Stewart; quoted by Terence Corcoran, “Global Warming: The Real Agenda,” Financial Post, December 26th, 1998; from the Calgary Herald, December, 14, 1998
Justice and equality — the pallid face of Marxism. But these are also themes that find a certain crossover in the teachings of the Church. And therein lies the problem — and the deception.
Church On a Precipice
Communism, or rather, community-ism is a socio-political counterfeit of the early Church. Consider this:
All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their property and possessions and divide them among all according to each one’s need. (Acts 2:44-45)
Isn’t this precisely what socialist/communist ideologues propose today through greater taxation and redistribution? The difference is this: what the early Church accomplished was based on freedom and charity—not force and control. That is the diabolical difference.
In a message for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation in September 2023, Pope Francis will say in a prepared speech that we “must listen to science and institute a rapid and equitable transition to end the era of fossil fuel. According to the commitments undertaken in the Paris Agreement to restrain global warming, it is absurd to permit the continued exploration and expansion of fossil fuel infrastructures.”[8]cf. press.vatican.va
The problem is that the “science” the Pope is listening to is wrought with fraud. A recent study at The Heartland Institute shows that 96% of climate data used to justify this climate push is flawed (again, it was flawed computer modeling that also drove COVID-19 pandemic hysteria). Climatologist Dr. Judith Curry agrees that the global warming narrative is driven by flawed computer models and that the real goal ought to be minimizing air and water pollution, not carbon dioxide. Tom Harris, Executive Director of the International Climate Science Coalition, was a climate alarmist who has now reversed his position due to flawed “models that don’t work,” and is now calling the whole narrative a hoax. Indeed, one study admits that the 12 major university and government models that have been used to predict climate warming are faulty. Remember “climategate” when scientists were caught deliberately altering statistics and ignoring satellite data that showed no warming? Nobel laureate, Dr. John Clauser, recently warned:
The popular narrative about climate change reflects a dangerous corruption of science that threatens the world’s economy and the well-being of billions of people. Misguided climate science has metastasized into massive shock-journalistic pseudoscience… There is, however, a very real problem with providing a decent standard of living to the world’s large population and an associated energy crisis. The latter is being unnecessarily exacerbated by what, in my opinion, is incorrect climate science. —May 5, 2023; C02 Coalition
Second, the “transition” the Holy Father refers to is not equitable but, through a “carbon credits” scheme (ie. scam), is making corporations and individuals like Al Gore wealthier while the rest of us pay more for just about everything (see here, here, here and here). Furthermore, carbon taxes on home heating and automotive fuel, as well as the rising cost of electricity to pay for renewable energy, are beginning to seriously punish the middle class and the poor. So when the Pope said…
Dear friends, time is running out! …A carbon pricing policy is essential if humanity wants to use the resources of creation wisely… the effects on the climate will be catastrophic if we exceed the 1.5ºC threshold outlined in the Paris Agreement goals… In the face of a climatic emergency, we must take appropriate measures, in order to avoid committing a grave injustice towards the poor and future generations. —POPE FRANCIS, June 14th, 2019; Brietbart.com
…the very thing he is promoting has now become the very instrument of a “grave injustice towards the poor and future generations.” But if you understand the Marxist underpinnings of the climate change movement, these impacts are not surprising.
Finally, the climate Paris Agreement the Pope is promoting is based on an utterly false concept that carbon dioxide (CO2) is a pollutant.
The pollution that kills is not only carbon dioxide pollution; inequality also mortally pollutes our planet. —POPE FRANCIS, September 24, 2022, Assisi, Italy; lifesitenews.com
CO2 is the primary carbon source for life on Earth, essential for plant life. Studies show that it increases vitamin and mineral output in plants as well as their medicinal properties. The more carbon dioxide, the greener the planet, the more food there is.
The emphasis on a false climate crisis is becoming a tragedy for modern civilization, which depends on reliable, economic, and environmentally viable energy. The windmills, solar panels and backup batteries have none of these qualities. This falsehood is pushed by a powerful lobby which Bjorn Lomborg has called a climate industrial complex, comprising some scientists, most media, industrialists, and legislators. It has somehow managed to convince many that CO2 in the atmosphere, a gas necessary for life on earth, one which we exhale with every breath, is an environmental poison. Multiple scientific theories and measurements show that there is no climate crisis. Radiation forcing calculations by both skeptics and believers show that the carbon dioxide radiation forcing is about 0.3% of the incident radiation, far less than other effects on climate. Over the period of human civilization, the temperature has oscillated between quite a few warm and cold periods, with many of the warm periods being warmer than today. During geological times, it and the carbon dioxide level have been all over the place with no correlation between them. —Journal of Sustainable Development, February 2015
Ultimately — and here “sustainable development” takes on a dark impetus — Rome is seemingly aligning itself with a thoroughly anti-human agenda that is now in the open:
In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. All these dangers are caused by human intervention, and it is only through changed attitudes and behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy then, is humanity itself. —Club of Rome, The First Global Revolution, p. 75, 1993; Alexander King & Bertrand Schneider
The most effective personal climate change strategy is limiting the number of children one has. The most effective national and global climate change strategy is limiting the size of the population. —A Population-Based Climate Strategy, May 7, 2007, Optimum Population Trust
Sustainable development basically says there are too many people on the planet, that we must reduce the population. —Joan Veon, UN expert, 1992 UN World Summit on Sustainable Development
If someday you hear a homily promoting climate change — and damning you if you don’t do exactly what the government says — remember that Christ was arrested in a green garden…
